  • ACH (formerly Ashley Community Housing)

Ashley Community Housing is a thriving social enterprise that puts people before profits. ‘Community’ is at the heart of everything we do as we empower positive change throughout communities in the West of England and the West Midlands. Since 2008 we have successfully resettled over 2000 individuals from refugee backgrounds– developing their independence, promoting their positive contribution to the community and easing their integration into UK life. The UK government and the EU are under increased pressure to both accommodate and provide long-term support for these frequently vulnerable people. This is why we have successfully developed an effective service over the past seven years which eases the strain on the public purse and helps those in need. We have also developed initiatives which are outside of statutory service provision, however, complement it

  • ACTOV Change CIC

ACTOV is a Community Interest Company committed to delivering projects that will support people of all ages across all communities with a focus on deprived communities. The Parent Support Hub, a project of ACTOV Change CIC, has been piloting support for parents of children who have been excluded from mainstream school due to EBD (emotional, behavioural difficulties). We have discovered that most schools still have a long way to go in really teaming up with the parent to start creating some consistency in how the child's behaviour is managed between school and home. In order to improve, all children need this consistency. However our focus revolves around the fact that most bad behaviour is due to low emotional intelligence. We're currently working with The Gottman Institute in the USA who are world leaders in developmental psychology and who have been carrying out research on how to nurture emotional intelligence in our children for 40 years. With their help, we have designed training sessions for parents and school staff that have proven results for the child, the parent and the school.

  • Beat it Percussion

Beat It Percussion CIC is a small Community Interest Company founded in 2013. The aim of Beat It is to bring hands-on drumming activities to people in the community, particularly those living with disadvantage or disability. Through the interactive nature of our work people are not just being entertained, but are experiencing real, measurable benefits in their well-being as well as doing something active and great fun. We do a lot of work with older people and those who are living with dementia. Special Schools and groups of people with learning disabilities are also great environments for our work. Recently we have begun working with young adults who have autism. In addition we work with staff teams and community groups who are looking for an enrichment activity that involves people working creatively together and not rolling in mud and shooting each other! In March 2016 Beat It Percussion in partnership with local Community Group, A Different Beat, won the Big Lottery People’s Projects Award, after a regional TV and media campaign. We are tremendously pleased to have achieved this with the support of all the people who voted for us. This means that we can now develop our new project, Drumming Together for Dementia, where we will hold regular drop-in sessions for people who are living with dementia and their carers to come and enjoy making new friends and use drumming to communicate and relieve some of the stresses of everyday life.
