  • Smethwick Mini Muslims Club

    We provide citizenship and social education for pre-teen children, from mainly Pakistani backgroud. In doing this their families are able to understand the culture and heritage in which they find themselves. Our club teaches children about their faith, Islam. We also look at etiquette, manners, religious beliefs and festivals. The children will meet representatives of the Police, other faith community groups etc. in order to gain a good understanding of the civil society. We are also looking into healthy life styles and sports activities.

  • Smethwick Youth & Community Centre

    One stop resource delivering community service in health, education, employment and leisure. The Smethwick Youth and Community Centre offers welfare advice and guidance, money management, employment support, and sports and recreation activities such as yoga and football. It also offer English classes and IT classes to enhance people's chances of employment.

    The Somali Disability & Elderly Support Group (SODES) is a registered charity based in Small Heath, Birmingham and provides advice, information and practical support and campaign for improved service to the Somali community in the West Midlands. Advice and information service on wide range of issues including employment opportunities, social care and health, welfare benefit, mental health and pension rights. We aim to support refugees, disabled children and elderly people and their families who are in need of assistance in order to take control of their daily living conditions. Interpreting/translation, an informal mentoring, advocacy, support service and information relating to disability issues. Children educational activities such as homework clubs, adult education (ESOL) and youth leisure activities. Monthly health awareness and workshops for Carers.

  • SOVA

    SOVA Connect receives referals from 8 West Midlands regions - short sentence prisoners who require post-release mentoring. We recruit volunteer mentors to deliver this mentoring. Mentors help beneficiaries work through an action plan produced whilst in prison. The aim of the action plan is to assist them in resettling back into the community, more specifically to access education, training or employment.

  • Spacehoppas Play Zone

    Spacehoppas is a large childrens indoor play centre, for children from new born to 12 years of age. The centre includes a 120 seater cafe area serving a range of meals including childrens meal deals at £4.00. The centre runs a parent and toddler session 10.00am to 3.15pm and kids eat free from 3.15 - 6.00 Monday to Friday term time only.

    Raising awareness of aphasia (speech and communication problems) following stroke or head injury. Exchange ideas to help one another cope with the condition. To help them to gain confidence to mix with the community. We meet the last Thursday in the month (Jan - Nov) at The Dartmouth Central Club, Devonshire Drive, West Bromwich at 12 midday We enjoy social events and outings.

    Spectra is a neurodiverse arts company that creates interactive, multi-sensory adventures for curious audiences. Founded in 2013, we make aesthetically driven, gently provocative performance and installation work that engages all of our audience’s senses. Our work is always accessible, actively seeking to welcome, include and support. Our Professional Company is currently working on a new show called Woods for the Trees (20 and 21 Jan 2023). Performed live over Zoom with gift parcels full of sensory goodies posted out to audience members, the show celebrates the cosiness we find indoors in the winter and the unexpected pleasures of the woods if we're brave enough to venture out. We have several other programmes of work including playful garden installations in public unused spaces, community workshops and long-term projects with a particular focus on working with those who are not currently served well by publicly funded culture, and artist development.
