  • British Polio Fellowship - Walsall & District Branch

    We are a group for people who have had polio and the group was formed in 1948. We provide welfare, socials, outings and support for these members. We are self supporting, holding street and store collections, no grants are received from anywhere. Our branch headquarters is situated at 42 Upper Rushall Street, Walsall WS1 2HA where we have been for over 30 years, but we expect to be moving shortly to the Annex at the Handicap Centre, Field Close, Bloxwich. No date has yet been advised by Walsall Council.

  • Brushstrokes

    Brushstrokes works with needy and deprived families in Smethwick. It provides clothing to the destitute, ESOL computer classes, parenting courses and there is a creche, but places are limited. Brushstrokes runs a Food bank on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 12 noon to 3 pm. On Friday, it runs a community meal from 12 noon to 2 pm. Foundation management partners: St Philips Roman Catholic Parish, Infant Jesus Sisters, Father Hudson's Society.

  • Cape Community Day Care Centre

    Day car centre and place of worship. The Cape Hill Day Care Centre provides day care and luncheon club services for older people twice a week. While 80% of the members are African Caribbean, the Centre welcomes all cultures and nationalities. Most are frail, vulnerable and isolated in their homes. With financial support from Sandwell Social Services for one day, the luncheon club is funded by volunteers. The Centre offers meals on wheels to house bound clients and a has befriending service for people who attend the Day Centre that ensures people are connected. We do not do a telephone befriending service. There are quarterly social outings and weekly crafts, IT and exercise sessions. Newly settled migrants utilise the services of the Centre aiding knowledge of local facilities, encouraging security and social inclusion. The Centre is run independently of the Church, the International Firstborn Church of The Living God. Sunday service is from 11 am - 2.30 pm; with Sunday School 11 am – 12 noon followed by a Devotional Service. Evening Service 6 pm – 8 pm. Bible Class and Prayer Meetings alternate Wednesday.

  • Centrepoint Christian Church & Support Centre

    Projects and Programmes include: Information, Advice and Guidance, Welfare Rights, Community Outreach Project, Skills and Employment, Street Outreach Team, Performing Arts Department, Education & Training, Young People Services, Schools Work, Health and Wellbeing, Volunteering, Immigration and Nationality, Community Services and Development Initiatives. The Opening Times are: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday - 10 am to 4 pm Wednesday - 10 am to 1 pm Friday - closed Saturday - closed Sunday - Celebration Service at 10.45 am

    We are a charity that supports people with cerebral palsy. We offer speech and language therapy and physiotherapy, as well as educational classes at the centre. We have a welfare dept which offers advice advocacy services and home visits. We are a user led organisation.

  • Community Learning

    The main aim of our organisation is to provide a social activity group alongside education. We have in the past provided certificated courses and also non-certificated courses for our users. Most of our users are aged between 60 - 90 and have gained certificates for the first time in their lives. We welcome anyone wishing to join our group whatever their age/colour/culture/religion or gender. Living alone, this group provides social inclusion, making new friends and combats isolation, at the same time proves that learning can be fun. School children\'s workshops covering different activities are held during school holidays

  • Community Resource Information Service

    CRIS was established in 1980 to be a demand-led resource to serve the communities of West Midlands. We work at a grassroots level supporting diverse and disadvantaged communities and individuals to bring about positive change. CRIS is about building community cohesion by bringing people together around shared common interests to enable them to have a voice in the decision-making processes that directly affect their lives. CRIS provides capacity building training including leadership skills, organisational management and development, fundraising and financial management, auditing services as well as personal development and employment services. We also undertake research and organise conferences and events on issues of importance for the communities we work with. CRIS also works intensively with migrant and refugee communities to facilitate their integration with wider community and enable their grass-roots organisations to become efficient and sustainable.

  • Compton Care

    The Hospice provides clinical and support services for people with life limiting illnesses and their carers and families. We provide free support to people who live in parts of the West Midlands: Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall; and South Staffordshire and East Shropshire.
