  • Wednesbury Sons of Rest

    Elderly persons leisure club. The hours of opening are 12 noon to 4.30pm Monday to Friday only. Consisting of ladies and gentleman. We play snooker, crib, dominoes and billiards etc. We can, and do, go on various days out during the summer period and we also have a Christmas carol concert during the festive season. There are about 60 active elderly persons within our organisation and we all have a really enjoyable time.

  • West Brom Basketball Club

    West Brom Basketball Club was established in 2014. We are a community based basketball club competing in the West Midlands Basketball League and the Youth Basketball League. We cater for children as young as 11 right through to adults. Our junior sessions take place at George Salter Academy and our senior sessions take place at West Brom Leisure Centre. As well as our club sessions, we also work with schools and other organisations in the local community to provide basketball in the wider community. During the school holidays we deliver high quality, affordable basketball camps. Enjoying success on the basketball court is important to us, however our aim is to use basketball as a vehicle to assist the development of the young people we work with into well-rounded individuals.

    Provides services primarily for the African-Caribbean community across the Borough. Services provided include :- Meals on Wheels, day care for the elderly, links with employment services, Saturday School and Health Education project including support for children and families experiencing difficulties in relation to school exclusion.     WBBYF works very closely with CBO and primarily concentrates on addressing needs of Bangladeshi Young People. WBBYD aims to :- provide range of activities and services for Bangladeshi young people in Sandwell to enable and empower them to maintain and improve their quality of life. - Provide services that create awareness of Bangladeshi cultural heritage - Raise awareness of the issues affecting Bangladeshi young people through the public, he media and professional service, acting as catalyst for policy change - Work in partnership with voluntary and statutory sector to improve services for Bangladeshi young people which are culturally sensitive.

    WBBC Projects Ltd runs two projects: 'U Choose' works with young people in local secondary schools and the local community helping them re-engage with education, training and employment. They run a variety of programmes and sessions to achieve this. The manager is Matthew Peniket. 'The Base' runs after-school clubs, holiday programmes and occasional other activities for children aged 8 to 13. The senior children's worker is Abayomi Bogle.
