African French Speaking Community Support (AFSCS)
AFSCS is a front line voluntary organisation which principally operates in the Soho/Victoria area of Smethwick. Its beneficiaries are mainly from French speaking countries of Africa living in Sandwell and Birmingham. It provides a comprehensive range of advice and information on a wide range of issues such as applying for citizenship; benefit checks and money matters, housing matters; immigration matters; anti-social behaviour, Job search, reducing social isolation and Befriending.

Age UK Sandwell
A Borough-wide campaigning and support service for older people. Current services include: Advice and Information service and help with benefits. This is provided at out-reach sites throughout the borough, at Libraries and Community Centres. A Handyperson Scheme: provided through our partner organisation Birmingham Age UK. This offers small practical help with the home. Financial and insurance services and an Advocacy Service, targeted at people in residential accommodation. Age UK Sandwell is actively involved as a pressure group to aid the well-being and active involvement of all older people. Age UK Sandwell also • provide a range of activities aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of older people in Sandwell • deliver talks in the community to target key health issues • hold events and activities to raise awareness of health campaigns and local health initiatives • develop and maintain partnerships with other voluntary and statutory organisations to ensure services are developed and promoted in co-ordination. They have over 30 years experience in providing quality homes and other services for families, couples, single people, older people and people with special needs. They are actively involved in urban renewal, economic and social regeneration and a number of environmental and sustainability projects.

Black Country Women's Aid
Black Country Women’s Aid is an independent charity which has been supporting victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence in the West Midlands for the last 25 years. BCWA offer sensitive and holistic support services which help victims of abuse to escape from violence, cope with trauma and move on with their lives. Support services include: • Domestic Abuse team supporting victims (female and male) in the community and at court; • Domestic Abuse Refuges offering a safe place to stay for women and children escaping their abusers; • Black Country Rape and Sexual Violence Service supporting victims (female and male) of rape, sexual violence and childhood sexual abuse with practical advocacy and specialist counselling; • Young People’s Team supporting children and young people who have suffered domestic abuse, rape and child sexual exploitation and providing education work in Sandwell schools; • Modern Day Slavery Service offers safe refuge and community support to people under the NRM (National Referral Mechanism) who have been trafficked to the UK; • Women’s Justice Services providing support to female offenders. BCWA also provide training and awareness sessions to professionals and community members across all of these specialist areas. BCWA work in partnership with statutory and voluntary services to support victims, raise awareness of issues of abuse, and develop new approaches to reaching the most vulnerable victims.
