NICE - Centre for Movement Disorders
NICE – Centre for Movement Disorders is a leading UK charity that works to transform the lives of children and adults with incurable neurological movement disorders, such as cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s and multiple sclerosis, as well as people who have suffered a stroke. Through an innovative educational system known as Conductive Education (CE), we provide direct services through our Pre-School (ages 0 to 5), Red Boots Primary school, Intensive Movement Training Placements and Adult-based rehabilitation service.
CE originates from Hungary, and involves movement based programmes that enable people to develop their everyday life skills, leading to increased levels of personal independence, heightened confidence and highlighting that having a disability is no barrier to attaining achievement and success. CE helps people develop ways of overcoming any physical impairments they may have. CE gives children and young people the best start in life, helping to prepare them for life’s challenges. For adults, it helps them to regain skills they may have lost after being diagnosed with a disability.
NICE supports over 600 people across the West Midlands and the wider UK.
